My Story

While this is an exercise in creating a website, I'm still debating whether this will be a strictly work-related site or if it will diverge into a section for work and a section for my interests in music, literature, philosophy and history.

Background & Expertise

2004 - Current

Director, IT Infrastructure

Dir. of Technology Infrastructure

  • Maintain all server service contracts for server hardware, operating systems and virtualization software

  • Manage, upgrade, document and maintain the disaster recovery technologies that support the IT Services infrastructure

  • Manage scheduled backups and relationships of third-party vendors that help manage off site backups

  • Manage, upgrade, document and maintain the virtualization software that operates the server infrastructure

  • Manage, upgrade, document  and maintain the storage area network that supports the storage needs for all server resources

  • Work as a liaison to third-party technology service providers for database administration support for SQL server

  • Collaborate closely with IT data team to maintain production, test and dev/QA environment for Tessitura CRM databases

  • Fine-tuning Tessitura SQL scheduled jobs to ensure stability and performance

  • Maintain and execute upgrades for the CRM System

  • Trouble-shoot issues related to the CRM System; including but not limited to service and web-related servers, the database server and the reporting servers

  • Act as the relationship manager for assigned IT Services clients. Work with the client management team to establish the IT strategic direction, build the annual operating plan and budget for infrastructure, and work throughout the year in implementing the identified projects and responding to new issues or opportunities where information technology is a part of the solution

  • Provide input and maintain master budget (for operating and capital expenses) of the IT department; as well as updated Forecasts throughout the year for the Finance Department and year-end review

  • Maintain relationships with technology vendors for server related hardware. Understand new offerings and make decisions as when to upgrade technology used by Shared Services

  • Develop, test viability and maintain standard for instruction of new technology into the shared technology environment that meets client requirements in a cost effective manner

  • Provide support on network switching in consultation

  • Develop and maintain VOIP system including Cisco Call Manager, Call Center and Unity

  • Assist in Office 365 migration

  • Provide support of AWS and Azure Cloud offerings

  • Work with third party vendors and System Administrator to support network firewall and hardware load balancing

2001 - 2004

Network Administrator, Domus, Inc.

  • Assisted in supporting and maintaining 4 servers and 40 workstations in the Philadelphia location

  • Creation of new user and e-mail accounts; daily backups of Exchange, Database and NT servers;  installing software upgrades and applying service packs; troubleshooting server, workstation and network printer problems

  • Installed and maintained an NT-based phone system with integrated voicemail

2000 - 2001

IT Consultant, Cytometrics

  • Assisted in supporting and maintaining 8 NT servers and 85 NT & Windows 2000 workstations in the Philadelphia location

  • Creation of new user and e-mail accounts; multi-site daily backups of Exchange, Database and NT servers;  installing software upgrades and applying service packs; troubleshooting server, workstation and network printer problems; disk duplication and hardware upgrades for new salesforce laptop implementation

  • Installed and maintained QAD/Progress database server and web-interface clients for multi-site sales/marketing and finance departments

  • Aided IT department in relocating 75 users to a new building including 8 servers, coordination and moving of 1.3 terabyte optical disk drive jukebox and installation of workstations

  • Converted an existing 1500-person independent legacy sales contact database to Exchange Server/Outlook client database

  • Installed and maintained an NT-based phone system with integrated (Call Pilot) voice/e-mail/remote notification system from Nortel Networks
